Residency in Clinical Pathology - The Department of Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine, The University of Georgia, has an opening for residency training in clinical pathology beginning July 1, 2010. This program is 3 years in duration and is designed to meet the eligibility requirements for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP).

The residency involves intensive training in all aspects of veterinary clinical pathology including hematology, clinical chemistry, cytology, and surgical biopsy. Teaching of clinical pathology to veterinary medical students, participation in seminars, presentations at national meetings, and writing manuscripts for publication are also expected of the successful applicant. Routine service duty rotations will be performed in the clinical pathology laboratory, cytology service, and surgical biopsy service under the guidance of board-certified clinical and anatomic pathologists. Formal course work will be accomplished in preparation for the ACVP certifying examination.

Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree and provide evidence of academic strength and interest in clinical pathology. A preference will be given to candidates with one or more years of post-doctoral clinical experience or who have completed an internship.
