| Bovine viral diarrhea: | |
| Bovine viral diarrhea, caused by a member of the genus Pestivirus in the family Flaviviridae, has a global distribution. Generally the virus produces a subclinical infection but some strains of the virus or certain immunological or genetic factors can trigger an acute disease characterized by fever, salivation, and the presence of ulcers in the oral and nasal cavity. Diagnosis is based on epidemiologic data, clinical observations, and viral isolation. | |
