Dr. Bala Manickam won the young investigator award for his poster presentation titled "Inhibition Of Complement Suppresses Autoimmune Uveitis By Modulating T cell Responses" at the 30th Annual symposium of Toxicologic pathology and Immune system organized by the Society of Toxicologic Pathology held at Denver, CO (June 19-23).

The title of her grant is "Determining the Role of Genetic Variation in a Macrophage Scavenger Receptor in Responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis".

Ming Fung, an MS student in Dr. Gottdenker's laboratory, was awarded a Latin American & Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI)
Graduate Student Travel Award to support her initial season of field work in Panama. Ming is studying factors influencing host reservoir competence for the Chagas disease agent Trypanosoma cruzi.

She was selected for this award by the UGA Office of International Education for her “generosity in helping international students in the College of Veterinary Medicine that goes above and beyond your duties as professor”.

Congratulations to Drs. Melinda Camus and Elizabeth Driskell for passing the American College of Veterinary Pathology Board Certification Examination!
Dr. Camus passed the ACVP Certifying Exam in Clinical Pathology.
Dr. Driskell passed the ACVP Certifying Exam in Anatomic Pathology. She also received the 2010 Howard W. Casey Award, which recognizes and rewards outstanding individuals training in pathology and striving to achieve ACVP certification.
