Animal Doc | Why Should I Spay or Neuter My Pet?

 Behavioral Benefits - Dogs

There really aren't many "bad dogs." However, there are good dogs who have one or two bad habits.

Spayed and neutered dogs are less likely to have some of these personality traits that can be troublesome to their owners and themselves.

Neutered dogs tend to be less aggressive than dogs who have not been neutered. This means they are less likely to bite people or fight with other dogs.

Neutered dogs are less likely to roam around the neighborhood. This decreases their risk of fighting with other dogs, being a nuisance to neighbors or getting hit by a car.

At various times during the year, female dogs go "into heat." This means that they become very excitable and can be quite a handful to their owners. Spaying a dog prevents her from going "into heat."
