Animal Doc | Why Should I Spay or Neuter My Pet?

 Introduction

A spay is a surgical operation in which the reproductive organs are removed from a female dog. A neuter is the same thing, but in a male dog.

Removing the reproductive organs will make it impossible for them to have puppies later. The same thing is true for cats.

A veterinarian can do these operations in a veterinary hospital, like in the picture shown here.

Most veterinarians will suggest that cats and dogs have this operation when they are six months old. The actual surgery takes about 30 minutes at the most and is very safe.

There are a lot of really good reasons why dogs and cats should be spayed or neutered. Take a look at the menu to the left for a few.
