Rinderpest:
Rinderpest is caused by a member of the genus Morbillivirus, family Paramyxoviridae.  Morbidity with rinderpest can reach 100% and mortality may be 50%.  Rinderpest is enzootic in northeastern and equatorial Africa.   The disease affects primarily cattle; sheep and goats can be carriers.   Diagnosis is done by isolation of the virus or agar gel immunodiffusion.
