Malignant catarrhal fever:
Malignant catarrhal fever is caused by a member of the subfamily Gammaherpesvirinae, family Herpesviridae. The disease is characterized by nasal and oral erosions, generalized lymphadenopathy, and vasculitis. Transmission of the virus occurs from subclinically infected sheep or wildebeest, usually at the time of lambing or calving. Diagnosis involves epidemiologic findings, clinical signs, characteristic histopathologic lesions, and serology. mcftongue.jpg (17927 bytes)
