| Infectious bovine rhinotracheitis is a viral disease caused by bovine herpesvirus type 1, in the subfamily Alphaherpesvirinae in the family Herpesviridae. Distributed globally, the virus infects cattle and some wild ruminants. The infection is characterized by lesions in the nasal cavity, nasal discharge, fever, depression, and loss in production.
