| We first arrived in Buenos Aires, the largest city
in Argentina, and clearly the economical and social giant
of the nation. It seemed important to understand the
social and economic priorities, opportunities, abilities,
and resources of the people, so we could relate it to
what we would see within the equine community. As we
explored the city, we began generating an understanding
for their economy and way of life. |
| From the beginning, it was obvious that agriculture
and livestock is king in Argentina. Horses are used as
the absolute means of managing their cattle, and to a
lesser, but growing, degree, for entertainment in the
form of racing. Any sort of infectious disease that has
the potential to affect the cattle or horse industry
would be disastrous to the economy of
Argentina. |
