Proposal
- The College identified the need for this new facility in 1998, and has completed program planning, conceptual design, and is now completing final design for this state-of-the-art building that will serve the future of veterinary medical training in Georgia.
- Moving the hospital to an off-campus location will provide a state-of-the-art facility for our students to learn in, and will facilitate access for clients, especially those with large animals in livestock trailers, and will provide open space for convalescence for horses and cattle.
- Clinical faculty along with third- and fourth-year students will move to the new hospital. The vacated space in our current buildings will be renovated to accommodate first- and second-year classes, and for badly needed research space.
- The $98 million project will be funded as follows: $7.7 million in planning money from the state of Georgia, received in FY 11; $52.3 million in construction funding from the state, received in FY13; $5 million for equipment from the state, to be provided in FY14; $33 million in private funding.
