Shared Leave

The issue of shared leave has come up several times in recent months. There seems to be widespread confusion over who/what is eligible to give/receive and how to solicit shared leave from other employees.

The HR Department seems to continually be changing the policy and the SRG is going to investigate this problem and clarify the guidelines, and perhaps request that the policy be changed to make the request/donation process easier.

New Veterinary Medical Learning Center (including a new Teaching Hospital)

Dean Allen attended our July 21, 2010, meeting and addressed concerns raised regarding staff input on the design of the new VMLC. Dr. Allen laid out the schedule for planning and the timeline for securing an architectural firm. She believes that the choosing of an architect should be completed by the end of September. She will be forwarding that timeline, as well as the plans for the committees that will be charged with the hospital design recommendations.

When that information is received, it will be posted here to keep you informed and allow you to voice any concerns that you have via the website.

Furloughs

In addition, the Dean was asked if the future held any furloughs in the coming year. She is not aware of any plans to furlough teachers/staff next year and stated that the University of Georgia would be strongly lobbying against furloughs as a budget-balancing tool.

As always, please feel free to contact the SRG with any concerns that you may have either here at the College or throughout the University.
