DVM-MPH Program
A 5-year, concurrent Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Public Health degree program.

Years 1 and 2
Year 1 is similar to the regular veterinary curriculum, but students interested in pursuing a MPH will need to register for POPH 5230 (seminar series) for 3 semesters.
Year 2
Year 2 is similar to the regular veterinary curriculum, but students interested in pursuing a MPH will need to register for POPH 5230 (seminar series) for 3 semesters.
The summer after Year 2, dual degree students will need 12 weeks of a Veterinary - Public Health related internship experience.
Year 3
Year 3 is identical to the veterinary curriculum. Clinics begin in the spring and continue through Fall of Year 4.
Year 4
Veterinary board examinations begin in the fall of Year 4. In the spring of Year 4, the didactic coursework portion of the MPH begins.
Also in the spring of Year 4, dual degree students may participate in CVM commencement with their veterinary class, but they will not receive their diploma until completion of DVM curriculum in spring of Year 5. During the summer after Year 4, dual degree students will participate in internship in public health required by the College of Public Health.
Year 5
In Fall of Year 5, coursework for the MPH is completed. Upon successful completion of MPH coursework, the MPH degree is awarded.
In Spring of Year 5, the remaining clinical rotations required for the DVM degree are completed. Upon completion of rotations, the DVM diploma is awarded.

Admissions
You must fulfill the admission requirements listed here:
- Submit the DVM-MPH Declaration of Intent form and your resume to Cara Simmons during Year 1 or 2 of your DVM program
- Receive formal acceptance from DVM/MPH Advisory Committee
- Submit formal application to the Graduate School during the Fall of Year 4
- Submit formal application to the College of Public Health during the Fall of Year 4
