Position Announcement -- Veterinary Pathologist

The University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Population Health invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the field of Veterinary Pathology.  Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent and PhD degree.  An interest in poultry diseases is required and an interest in immunology is desired.  Responsibilities would include sharing with another pathologist diagnostic and research services in avian histopathology, collaborative and independent research in poultry diseases and instruction in graduate programs including the Masters of Avian Medicine degree.  In addition, the faculty member is expected to work well as a team member and collaborate within the department providing support to clinical faculty and field veterinarians with the aim of solving problems in the poultry industry. 

The Department of Population Health is a multi disciplinary department composed of 4 units (www.vet.uga.edu/populationhealth). The position is located at the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center (PDRC) in Athens, Georgia.  The PDRC is part of the diagnostic network for the poultry industry of Georgia which has a farm gate value of approximately 4.4 billion USD.  In addition, the PDRC actively provides support to the poultry industry throughout the United States and Central and South America.   The environment is highly interactive and productive with close ties to all basic science departments, federal research facilities and other academic institutions nearby.  A research laboratory will be provided, however, a successful candidate will be expected to attract extramural funding to support their research program.  Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
