How the Masters of Food Animal Program translated in Dr. Rollin's role as a veterinarian:
"Completing the Masters in Food Animal Medicine at UGA has allowed me to become a more effective clinical bovine practitioner. The concepts that I learned during the program helped me to better understand the many interactions between animals and their management that ultimately lead to greater health and profitability. Methods of analyzing historical data and monitoring ongoing results are increasingly important in animal agriculture, but are not covered in the traditional veterinary curriculum. The MFAM program successfully combines on-farm clinical learning with didactic and self-directed learning to produce practitioners that are able to perform clinical procedures as well as understand the predisposing factors that lead to disease, its economic ramifications, how to prevent or minimize its effects in the future, and how to communicate all of this to the client. After completing the MFAM program in December 2008, I joined a bovine practice in Eatonton, Georgia that services dairy and beef farms in central Georgia. We strive to help our clients in all aspects of their business to increase animal health and farm profitability by providing traditional veterinary services as well as consulting. The MFAM program helped me to quickly become an asset to both the practice and our clients, and begin my career with a commitment to continuous improvement."
