Training
All sessions to be held at The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine
Course information, schedule and registration: December 5-6, 2008 Exotic Animal Diagnostic Endoscopy
This course is designed to teach the uses and practical applications of diagnostic and surgical endoscopy in birds, reptiles and small mammals.
This is a basic to intermediate level course, and fundamental knowledge of avian and reptilian anatomy is assumed.
You will be trained using PowerPoint lectures and video presentations in equipment choice and care; coelioscopy, gastro-intestinal endoscopy and tracheoscopy of birds; coelioscopy, gastro-intestinal and respiratory endoscopy of reptiles; oral, aural, and upper respiratory endoscopy in small mammals; biopsy and sampling techniques; and endoscopy practice management and profit center development.
In addition, there will be 9 hours of practical lab time in which you will be able to practice and develop you skills in birds (pigeons) and reptiles (iguanas).
On completion of this course you will leave with a certificate of training, printed notes containing all the tutorial materials, a laminated endoscopy image library for client education and endoscopy service marketing, and, it is hoped, a burning desire to utilize endoscopy on a daily basis in exotic and companion animal practice.
