Mimi

Mimi
  • Patient:
Mimi, 11 year old female spayed domestic short hair cat.

  • Presenting complaint:
Combination of weight loss, vomiting, diarrhea, ascites, and jaundice.

  • Endoscopic procedure:
Laparoscopic liver and abdominal mass examination and biopsy.

  • Benefits of using endoscopy:
Laparoscopy was performed through 2 small openings, thereby minimizing fluid and protein loss typically occurring during a traditional laparotomy. Although the prognosis was terminal, an accurate diagnosis was made with minimal stress to the patient. This permitted patient recovery so that comfort care can be provided until the quality of life deteriorated.
