Franklin

• Patient:
  Franklin, 1 year old male domestic shorthair cat.



• Presenting complaint:
  Franklin was submitted for an elective castration. During examination, black discharge from both ears, fleas and tapeworm proglotids were found.



• Diagnostic studies before endoscopy:
  Pre-operative laboratory tests were within normal limits.



• Endoscopic procedure:
  Video-otoscopy found many ear mites in both ears.



• Benefits of using endoscopy:
  Images and movies were excellent, and provide an incentive for an owner to proceed with ear mite treatment.
