Using Your New CVM Account
This is the instruction page for how to access a new employee account.
The account name has been sent to the person requesting the account - usually an office manager.
The new user will not have a password the first time they log in.
For logging into a Windows 98 machine:
User enters username and no password at the Novell login screen
When the user logs in the first time, the machine will say that her/his password has expired and ask if he/she would like to create a new one. User should say 'yes' and set up his/her password at this point. The password needs to be at least 5 characters long.
For logging into a Windows XP machine
For user with no machine:
Report to your department office manager and use their machine to log in
for the first time.
User enters username and no password at first (Novell) login screen

At second login screen – Office Manager enters local account name and password.

The machine will then say that the password for user is expired and ask
if they want to set a new one – User answers “yes” and
sets his/her password at this point.
The password needs to be at least 5 characters long.
For user with a brand new machine:
Computer support should have setup your machine with a local account having
the same username.
User logs into first screen with username and no password.
User logs into second screen with same username and no password.

The machine will then say that the password for user is expired and ask
if they want to set a new one – User answers “yes” and
sets his/her password at this point.
The password needs to be at least 5 characters long.
For user with already existing machine:
Scenario 1: Deparment HAS contacted
Computer Support Group and made request for local account. Computer support
should have setup your machine with a local account having the same username.
User logs into first screen with username and no password.

User logs into second screen with same username and no password.

The machine will then say that the password for user is expired and ask
if they want to set a new one – User answers “yes” and
sets his/her password at this point.
The password needs to be at least 5 characters long.
Scenario 2: Department HAS NOT contacted Computer Support Group and made request for local account. User should have their Office Manager contact Computer Support to request a local account on the existing machine prior to logging in their first time, but can, when necessary, request one after the initial log in.
Report to your department office manager and use their machine to log in
for the first time.

if they want to set a new one – User answers “yes” and
sets his/her password at this point.

Your new employee has also been added to Vet Med News and either
Vet Med Staff or Vet Med Faculty where appropriate.
