LARGE ANIMAL VETERINARY TEACHING HOSPITAL

Emergency Room

The Emergency Room The University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital offers 24 hour critical care every day of the year (including holidays). Should you find yourself with a medical or surgical emergency please follow these simple steps to insure the highest quality of care for your animal.

If you have a regular veterinarian, follow the steps below.

Please see our policies page for more information.

  1. You should first contact them to discuss the specifics of the problem your animal is having.
  2. If you decide a trip to the Teaching Hospital is the best course of action, you should then have your veterinarian call to speak with one of the veterinarians on duty.
  3. After thorough discussion of your animal's condition, you will be contacted (either by your veterinarian or by a UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital representative) with details concerning your arrival time and general cost information. Please keep in mind that it is impossible to give accurate cost estimates without evaluation, so the estimates given at the initial contact would be subject to change upon evaluation at our facilities.

If you do not have a regular veterinarian, follow the steps below.

Please see our policies page for more information.

  1. You should call the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital and indicate that you have a potential emergency (542-3223).
  2. After discussion of the details of your pet's condition (either with a veterinarian or a representative), we will offer you an appropriate appointment and a general cost estimate.
