10. Do UGA students get special preference?

  • No preference is given to students from any institution.
  • Preference for admission is given to applicants who are residents of Georgia, South Carolina, West Virginia or Delaware.

Preference for admission

  • Applicants are free to take the courses required for admission at any accredited college or university, including community colleges that is accredited through the Commission on Colleges and Universities.
  • A contract with the Southern Regional Educational Board provides for the enrollment of up to 17 students from South Carolina, up to 6 from West Virginia and up to 2 from Delaware. Up to 10 students may be accepted from any of the other 46 states or Puerto Rico.
  • The balance of the 96 students admitted each year are Georgia residents.
