Course information

  • Prerequisites:

  • Objectives:

  • After completing this course students will be ale to utilize multimedia hardware and software to educate or inform about veterinary medicine, specifically by developing a multimedia instructional or informational presentation and collaborating on a web site. The steps for development of the presentation include: 1. Identifying a topic. 2. Developing a liaison with an expert in the field. 3. Research on the topic. 4. Develop multimedia materials for use in the presentation (digital pictures or video, graphics, web pages, etc.) 5. Develop the presentation. 6. Deliver the presentation. The steps for development of the web site include: 1. Identifying a topic 2. Research the topic 3. Develop multimedia materials for use in the website (digital pictures or video, graphics, web pages, etc.) 4. Develop the website. 5. Deliver the website. Concurrent with the steps above, students will receive mini-workshops in the use of the presentation software, digital imaging (scanners, digital cameras, digital video, graphic design, image manipulation), web development, and audio-visual hardware.

  • Week 1: Projects, Powerpoint, Digital Camera, Photoshop Week 2: Screen design, Effective Presentations, Digital video/audio Week 3: Web Design, HTML, Dreamweaver Week 4: Web upload and Flash Week 5: Presentations
