Prerequisites: LAMS/SAMS 5203 Principles of Anesthesia

Objectives:
To allow veterinary students to become more proficient in the anaesthetic manegement of domestic small animal patients (dogs, cats)

Topical outline:
a) Lecture 1 – Introduction: significance of anaesthesia, impact on clinical practice, specialty of anaesthesia, course grading and participation, group assignments, oxygen delivery to tissues, carbon dioxide, glucose, temperature, acid-base balance, monitoring oxygen delivery to tissues.
