N/A Dentristry laboratory participation is mandatory. There will be a laboratory quiz and a final examination. Attendence at lectures and AQS's is expected. Laboratory participation 15 points (8.5%) Laboratory quiz 40 points (22.5%) Final examination 120 points (69%) Total points 175 (100%) Letter grades will be assigned as follows: A = 90-100% B = 80-89% C = 70-79% D = 60-69% F< 60% Final grade percentages will be rounded up (e.g., an 89.5% will be considered an A, a 79.5% will be considered a B, etc.). Students are expected to abide by the academic honesty policies and guidelines as outlined in the College of Veterinary Medicine Code of Conduct. Studying from previous SAMS 5315 tests or examinations is not permitted in this course and such action will be considered a breach of the code of conduct. SAMS 5350 The purposes of this course are (1) to present specific small animal digestive diseases in an advanced problem- and case-oriented format, (2) to present the basics of small animal dentistry, (3) to convey (and have you practice applying) a rational, problem-oriented approach to the diagnosis and management of specific canine and feline digestive diseases. At the end of this course, you should (1) be familiar with specific digestive diseases, particularly inflammatory bowel disease and major liver diseases, (2) be familiar with basic endoscopic instrumentation and know indications for flexible endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery of the GI tract, (3) be familiar with stomatitis/gingivitis and basic small animal dentistry, and (4) be familiar with major GI tract neoplasms.
