CVM Student Ambassadors
Student ambassadors are representatives of the veterinary student body at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. Ambassadors assist with recruitment, outreach and College-related activities to enhance the public image of the College, its students, and its program.
Ambassadors serve as one of the first contacts prospective students have with the College, and hence serve as a front-line force in representing the College and a pivotal member of our recruitment team. Current second- or third-year students who possess strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and sense of school spirit and pride are selected as student ambassadors.
Ambassadors are:
- articulate and effective public speakers.
- professional in appearance and attitude.
- able to fulfill their ambassador responsibilities without jeopardizing their academic standing.
Ambassadors are available to speak to groups, schools, clubs, assemblies, banquets, or similar events during the week and on weekends.
Expectations of ambassadors
What is expected of an ambassador?
- Ambassadors are required to attend training sessions on public speaking, media relations, college strategic plan and etiquette
- Ambassadors are required to have an e-mail account and access the account daily for any news or event information. It is expected that ambassadors maintain close communication with the Academic Affairs staff, both in-person and by e-mail.
- Ambassadors are expected to be knowledgeable about our College.
What are the benefits of being an ambassador?
Ambassadors will have the opportunity to travel, give back to the College, meet College leaders, develop friendships, expand communication and leadership skills, meet potential students, and network with alumni.
Ambassadors assist at College and University-sponsored events and are available to speak on topics related to student recruitment, veterinary medicine and veterinary related issues.
