Research Interests: Canine and Human Prostate Cancer, Bone Metastases, Cancer Biomarkers, Cyclooxygenases & Cancer, Calcium and Phosphorus Metabolism in Renal Failure and the Humoral Hypercalcemia of Malignancy
My laboratory is interesting in using molecular biomarkers to improve diagnosis and detection of prostate cancer in dogs. We are also investigating the pathogenesis of the osteoblastic metastasis of prostate cancer. Currently we are using a canine prostate carcinoma xenograft to evaluate the effects of cyclooxygenase-2 inhibition on prostate cancer growth, invasion, and metastasis.
Teaching: Clinical Pathology (course coordinator), Clinical Pathology Clerkship (course coordinator), Diagnostic Pathology, Cytology Practicum, Advanced Veterinary Hematology, Tumor Biology, Cell Pathology

Activities: Lilly Teaching Fellow (2005-2006), Comparative Oncology Program (co-director), Advisor, Student Pathology Club (Pathheads)
