Ateleia glazioviana
Scientific Name: Ateleia glazioviana (Fabaceae) Common Name: timbó, maria-preta, cinamomo-bravo Description: Deciduous tree 8-20 m in height most often found in sunny areas including edges of forests. It is found in wet terrains of the Uruguay Basin in the northwestern part of Rio Grande do Sul and the west and Midwest of Santa Catarina. The leaves are pinnately compound with 19-25 leaflets. The leaflets are paired with only one leaflet at the apex of the leaf. The flower is white and ciliolated. Flowering occurs November January. The fruit can be found March May and is a flattened seed pod 4-5 cm in length and 1.5-2 cm in width. It generally contains 2 or at most 3 seeds. The seeds are kidney shaped, 0.4-0.7 cm long and dark brown to dark maroon. |
