The UGA College of Veterinary Medicine
  • The first class of 44 students graduated in 1950.
  • The College employs 158 faculty members and 444 staff members.

  • Our total budget is approximately $62.3 million dollars, with about 50% of that total appropriated or sponsored by the state of Georgia.
  • The remainder comes from income from services (25%), federal and other sponsors (20%), the Southern Regional Education Board (4%), and gifts (1%).

About the Hospital

  • We have an in-house caseload of over 18,350 cases per year, while our field services team goes on approximately 1,580 calls and sees approximately 257,190 animals per year.

  • Current enrollment is 393 students in the DVM program, 57 PhD candidates, 5 DVM/PhD combined degree program students, 3 DVM/MPH combined degree students, and 37 master’s degree candidates, along with 37 residents and 17 clinical interns.
  • 74% of our DVM students are women.
  • 73% of our DVM students come from Georgia, 17% from South Carolina, 6% from West Virginia, 2% from Delaware, and 2% from other states.
