About the College

The first class of 44 students graduated in 1950.
The College employs 159 faculty members and 372 staff members.

Our total budget is approximately $61.4 million dollars, with 46% of that total appropriated or sponsored by the state of Georgia.
The remainder comes from income from services (26%), federal and other sponsors (23%), the Southern Regional Education Board (4%), and gifts (1%).

We have an in-house caseload of over 18,747 cases per year, while our field services team goes on approximately 2,270 calls and sees approximately 433,326 animals per year.

Current enrollment is 401 students in the DVM program, 69 PhD candidates, 4 DVM/PhD combined degree program students, 6 DVM/MPH combined degree students, and 32 master’s degree candidates, along with 32 residents and 15 clinical interns.
74% of our DVM students are women.
76 of our freshman class of DVM students come from Georgia, 17 from South Carolina, 6 from West Virginia, 2 from Delaware, and 1 from other states.
