Comparative Inflammation Study Group
The central theme of our research group is comparative inflammation. We study, and compare, the mechanisms involved in inflammatory diseases in a variety of species. This approach allows us to identify commonalities and differences in the diverse ways different species deal with inflammatory problems.
Our group has members with academic homes in several departments and programs, including: Large Animal Medicine, Small Animal Medicine, Food Animal Health and Management, Physiology and Pharmacology, as well as Anatomy and Radiology. Because of our diverse backgrounds we integrate our collaborative work across many scientific disciplines, and hvae come to value this integrated approach.
There are many areas of disease and health impacted by our focus on inflammation — laminitis, endotoxemia, colic, neonatal immune development, and vaccine development and assessment. At the same time we are also focused on improving the instruction of veterinary students, using new tools and methods, and bringing these advances to science education in general.
