MESSAGE FROM THE GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION
On behalf of the Department of Infectious Diseases Graduate Student Association, I welcome you to our program and to our association. We currently have 42 graduate student members whose diverse academic interests include immunology, bacteriology, parasitology and virology. As a group, we strongly contribute to the study of causes and prevention of infectious diseases brought about by both animal and human pathogens. The IDIS GSA has several crucial roles in our department:

• Most importantly, the IDIS GSA maintains a working relationship between students and faculty in the department as well as the Graduate School. We are the voice of our students.

• We have the honor of hosting speakers chosen by the students one or more times per year.

• We give guidance to new students as they make an important transition into our department.

• We organize social events and fundraisers throughout the year to promote unity among our diverse group of students.

As representatives for our graduate student community, we invite questions, comments and suggestions to make our GSA stronger and better able to serve the students. We look forward to building personal and professional relationships that will last a lifetime.
