Summary

One of the internationally-acclaimed endoscopy training programs from the University of Georgia, this course is designed to teach the theory and practical applications of diagnostic and surgical endoscopy in rodents, rabbits, ferrets, and other small mammals.

Whether you are a lab animal veterinarian, private practitioner, zoo/aquarium/wildlife veterinarian, or researcher this course will train you to perform minimally-invasive endoscopic procedures including biopsy techniques in small mammals.

This is a basic- to intermediate-level course, and fundamental knowledge of rodent, rabbit and ferret anatomy is assumed. You will be trained using PowerPoint lectures and video presentations in equipment choice and care; stomatoscopy, otoscopy, rhinoscopy, laryngoscopy (including endoscopic intubation), cystoscopy, colonoscopy, as well as single-entry laparoscopy in rodents and multiple-entry laparoscopy (including endoscopic oophorectomy) in rabbits. In addition, there will be 10 hours of practical wet-lab time in which you will be able to practice and develop your rigid endoscopy skills.
