Registration fee: $195.00

Course fee includes morning coffee, refreshment breaks, lunch, and instructional materials (Proceedings will be on a CD).

This course will provide 8.0 hours of Continuing Education credit. Full attendance is required to receive total CE credits.

Course Cancellation Policy

Full refunds are available for cancellations made by 5 p.m. ET, Sept. 30, 2011. No refunds will be issued thereafter. If a course is cancelled for any reason, the College of Veterinary Medicine will not be responsible for any charges related to travel.

8–9 a.m. Red Eye: Diagnosing the ubiquitous red eye — Dr. Rachel Mathes

9–10 a.m. Unravelling the Glaucomas: Diagnosis, treatment and triage — Dr. Kate Myrna

10–10:15 a.m. Refreshment Break

10:15–11:15 a.m. Decoding the Retina: Interpreting retinal changes — Dr. Kate Myrna

11–12 p.m. Examination Tips for GPs: Seeing what you need to see without fancy equipment — Dr. Kate Myrna

12–1 p.m. Lunch: Roundtable discussion

1–5 p.m. Lab: Canine Ocular Examination Techniques

  • Ocular diagnostics: Tonopen and tonovet, schirmer tear tests, nasolacrimal flushing, rose Bengal and fluorescein stains, tear-film breakup time
  • Ocular exam: Localizing corneal, anterior chamber and lens lesions, assessing the aqueous, techniques for maximizing your equipment: transilluminators, direct ophthalmoscopes, pan-optic retinal examination and indirect ophthalmoscopy
